Director's Note

Alex Christopherson on his ridiculous idea

The past few years of British politics have been turbulent and distressing, but frankly if we can't laugh about it, what can we do? One story was particularly hilarious to me: that of our shortest ever prime minister. No, I'm not talking about height, but duration. In just 44 days she caused more damage to the UK economy than arguably anyone else, and in true British satirical tradition, this was marked by the shelf-life of a lettuce.

The Techtonics are known for being silly, stupid, nerdy and over the top. So to me, this seemed like the cross over that (despite no one asking for), everyone needed to see.

Day 37 13 Oct
Kwasi isn't going

Kwasi has been sent to New York City to try calm the international response to the mini-budget.

Before boarding the plane home, he is asked if he'll still be chancellor in a month: "yes," he says, "and Liz will be PM."

Day 36.png
Day 36 12 Oct

Day 42.png
Day 42 18 Oct
Liz is definitely not hiding under a desk

With Jeremy Hunt now undoing all her and Kwasi's ideas, Liz seems to have lost all authority and avoids PMQs.

Day 43.png
Day 43 19 Oct
"I'm a fighter, not a quitter"

Her most iconic line followed cross-party calls for her resignation, most notably from her own home secretary Suella Braverman.

Day 44.png
Day 44 20 Oct
"I quit"

The U-turn to end all U-turns, within less than 24 hours of denying it as a possibility, Liz has resigned.
